How we vet listings

Stitch & Sole exists to help people find a cobbler they can trust. That only works if the directory itself is trustworthy, so here is exactly how it is built and kept accurate.

Free and accurate, first

Every listing on this site is free. A shop never pays to appear, never pays for a better position, and never pays for the “Verified” badge described below. We built it this way because a directory that ranks shops by who pays the most stops being useful to the person trying to find a cobbler.

Being accurate matters more than being complete. If we are not sure a detail is right, we would rather leave it out than guess — a blank field is honest; a guessed one is not.

Where listings come from

Most listings start from information that is already public — things like a business’s name, address and the services it offers. We do not invent details. If we do not hold a fact about a shop, its page simply does not state one, rather than filling the gap with something that sounds plausible.

What “Verified” means — and does not

A shop with the Verified badge has spoken with us directly, confirmed its own details, and agreed to be shown as verified, on the date shown on its page. That is the whole claim. It is not:

• a rating or a review of the shop’s work,

• an endorsement from us, or

• a paid placement — verified listings are not shown more prominently or ranked any differently because of the badge.

A separate note on a verified shop’s page says whether it has also agreed to receive work referred through this directory — a second, independent thing a shop can opt into, on top of simply confirming its details.

Reporting something wrong, or claiming your shop

Every listing carries a “Report a correction” and an “Is this your shop?” link near the bottom of its page. Use whichever fits:

• Report a correction if you spot a wrong phone number, an address that has changed, hours that are out of date, or a shop that has closed.

• Is this your shop? if you run the business and want to confirm your own details and start receiving customer enquiries — free, with no price or paid tier attached.

Every submission is read by a person before anything changes on a live listing. Nothing is applied automatically, and a report that a shop has closed is never turned into a silent status change — we follow up first.
